Establishing a Connection.
Given the PC keyboard and mouse can only operate one device at any one time, e.g. the PC or the device,  a trigger mechanism has been created to determine which device has control.   Within True Connect, depending on where the mouse pointer is positioned, determines whether the PC, or the device, has control.

Controlling the Device Directly

We are all familiar with the fact that any mouse movement/clicks and keyboard input will be directed on the current application executing on the PC.   However when True Connect is running and the mouse pointer is dragged from the PC monitor onto the device then all mouse movements/click and keyboard input will be redirected to the device and not the PC.   Once the mouse pointer is dragged back onto the PC then the PC regains input control.   In summary the location of the mouse pointer will determine which device currently has the focus for receiving input from the mouse and/or keyboard.

This seamless transition from PC to device makes True Connect an extremely easy and natural application to use. In no time at all you will be treating the device as a natural extension to your PC.

To use your PC mouse/keyboard to control your device:

  1. Ensure the device is connected to the PC and ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Centre has created a connection.
  2. Ensure the True Connect client is running.
  3. Ensure your 14 day trial period has not expired by examining the General tab of the True Connect client.
  4. Using your PC mouse, drag the mouse pointer off the edge of the PC monitor. The side the mouse pointer should be dragged is determined by the settings in the Position tab of the True Connect Configuration Manager.    By default the mouse should be dragged off the left-hand side of the monitor
  5. As the mouse pointer disappears from view on the PC monitor it will appear on the device.
  6. A connection has now been established, the mouse and keyboard can now be used to control the device.
When the mouse pointer is dragged onto a Smartphone, True Connect will automatically unlock the Smartphone if it is locked.

Controlling the Device using On Screen Connect (True Connect Pro Only)

If the On Screen Connect feature is turned on then control of the device is initiated by the mouse pointer being over the On Screen Connect window or On Screen Connect tab.  When the mouse pointer is over this window then all mouse and keyboard input will be directed to the device.  To return control to the PC simply drag the mouse pointer away from the On Screen Connect window.
