Customization of the PC key mappings is only available in True Connect
Pro. If using True Connect Lite the key mappings will be
available however cannot be modified and hence the Keys tab controls
will not be accessible.
PC keyboard keys can be mapped to buttons on the device
in order to activate these buttons remotely using the PC. For example
the PC keyboard Insert key maps directly onto the Soft Key 1 button of the
device. While the mouse pointer has been moved onto the device
the defined shortcut keys will activate the buttons on the device.
The Key tab within the Configuration Manager provides a facility to
modify the default keyboard keys to device buttons.
To map a keyboard key to one of the buttons on the device:
- With the PC Client started, left-click on the True Connect icon in the PC
SystemTray.
- Select the "Keys" tab.
- Using the "Set key mappings for" dropdown list choose the
device
type you wish to set key mapping for. The choices are either "Smartphone" or
"Touch-Screen Device". Note, the available mapping options will differ between the two devices as each supports
different buttons. This will default to the
device
currently connected to the PC. If no
device
is connected then this will default to the last
device
that what was connected.
- To change a device button mapping, double-click the "Key Stroke" or
"Alternative" you wish to map and then press the keyboard key you
wish to map it to.
- All key mappings can be reset to the defaults by using the "Restore
Defaults" button.
- Use the "Clear" button to un-map the currently selected key.
The PC arrow keys and number keys will map directly to the device's joystick and number pad. These keys cannot be re-mapped.

Smartphone's record button, power button, volume control and media playback buttons (if applicable) cannot be
mapped onto the PC keyboard.

Buttons 1 to 6 on Touch-Screen Devices
By default for Touch-Screen devices True Connect will support
mapping 6
device
buttons to the PC keyboard. It should be noted that not all
devices support 6 buttons and therefore mapped buttons outside the
number supported by the device will be ignored.
Typically the numbered buttons map directly to the order the buttons
appear in the Settings - Buttons application on the
device.
