Configuration - Position Tab
The Position tab within the PC Client allows you to set the position of the device in relation to the monitor.  Alternatively you can turn on the On Screen Connect feature which allows control of the device via a window on your PC monitor rather than via direct control on the device.  Finally you can also set the speed of the mouse cursor on the device.

Device/Monitor Positioning

device positioning determines the side of the monitor the cursor must be dragged in order for it to appear on the device. For example if you generally place your device on your desk to the right of the monitor, then it is sensible to set the position of the device on the Configuration Manager to the right of the monitor.

If using the On Screen Connect feature the position of the device in relation to the monitor dictates the side the On Screen Connect tab will appear (depending on the On Screen Device Settings).

To set the device's position in relation to the monitor:

  1. With the PC Client started, left-click on the True Connect icon in the PC SystemTray, to open the Configuration Manager.
  2. Select the "Position" tab which will display the following dialog.

The pictorial display represents where the device is in relation to the PC desktop. The position of the device can be changed by dragging the device to place it anywhere around the edge of the desktop.  A cyan indicator on the desktop will provide a visual indication of the side of the monitor that will activate True Connect when the cursor is dragged off that side of the monitor.

For example:

Will result in the cursor appearing on the device if the mouse pointer is dragged off the left-hand side of the monitor.
Will result in the cursor appearing on the device if the mouse pointer is dragged off the right-hand side of the monitor.
Will result in the cursor appearing on the device if the mouse pointer is dragged off the bottom of the monitor.

Once set, the relative position that the cursor is dragged from the monitor will be preserved on the device.   For example if we had placed our device as being positioned to the right of the monitor, dragging the cursor off the top-right of the monitor will result in the cursor appearing in the top-left of the device screen.

If the PC has two monitors attached, then the display will represent both these desktops on the True Connect Position tab.

On Screen Connect (True Connect Pro Only)

On Screen Connect provides an alternative method of controlling your device.  Instead of controlling the device by dragging the mouse cursor off the active edge onto the device, On Screen Connect will present a window of the device screen that you are then able to control with the PC mouse and keyboard.

For more details on On Screen Connect and the functionality of the options above go to the On Screen Connect chapter.

The following options of On Screen Connect are configurable from the Position Tab.  If you are using True Connect Lite then these options will not be accessible.

Option Action
On Setting the "On" checkbox sets True Connect into On Screen Connect mode.  Dragging the mouse pointer off the edge of the monitor to control the device is no longer  operational in this mode.
Zoomed Checking the "Zoomed" option sets True Connect to always display the On Screen Connect window in a Zoom X2 state.
Pinned When Pinned the On Screen Connect window is displayed as always set to a pinned state meaning the window will not hide itself when the mouse is moved off the On Screen Connect window.

Cursor Speed

To set how sensitive the cursor speed is to mouse movements on the device, simply move the slider to adjust the mouse sensitivity.

Press Apply or OK to activate all changes.
