Mouse and Keyboard Usage Reference.
Once installed, start using True Connect by simply dragging the PC mouse cursor off the left-hand edge of the monitor.  The cursor will appear on the mobile device, allowing the PC mouse and keyboard to directly control the device.

For an alternative method of controlling the device refer to On Screen Connect.

The following describes the input mechanisms used by True Connect.   

Wheel Mouse

Wheel Mouse Function Device  Action
Left Click Simulates an appropriate tap or click action for the position of the mouse cursor.  If the mouse cursor is over an executable item and left click is pressed, the item will be executed.
Right Click Smartphone
Simulates the BACK button of the mobile device.  Pressing this button will return the user through the previous navigations until the home screen is presented.

Touch-Screen Device
Simulates the BACK button of the mobile device.  Pressing this button performs an OK/Cancel event on the current application until the home screen is presented.

Right Click Hold Smartphone
Open the True Connect Navigation Buttons.  See "Navigation Buttons" below.

Touch-Screen Device
No action.  Reserved for a future release.
Wheel backwards Simulates a DOWN action. For example if using the Start Menu a wheel backwards will move the selection down the list of menu items.
Wheel forwards Simulates an UP action. For example if using the Start Menu a wheel forwards will move the selection up the list of menu items.
Wheel click
Simulates a joystick press action for the currently selected item.  For example if using the Start Menu a wheel click will invoke the currently selected menu item.
SHIFT
Wheel forwards
Simulates a LEFT action.  For example in the month view of Calendar, SHIFT wheel forward will move the selection left one day.
SHIFT
Wheel backwards
Simulates a RIGHT action.  For example in the month view of Calendar, SHIFT wheel back will move the selection right one day.
Tilt Mouse Support If using a mouse that supports horizontal tilt movement then this peripheral will simulate the same actions as "SHIFT Wheel forwards" and "SHIFT Wheel backwards" (See above).

 
If using a mouse that does not support the wheel functionality then use the Navigation Buttons or keyboard cursor keys to achieve the same results.

Navigation Buttons (Non Touch-Screen devices only.)

The Navigation buttons are initiated by clicking and holding the right mouse button.

Navigation Button Device  Action
Simulates a joystick UP action.  For example if viewing the list of Contacts, each click on this button will move the highlight up one position within the list.
Simulates a joystick DOWN action.  For example if viewing the list of Contacts, each click on this button will move the highlight down one position within the list.
Simulates a joystick RIGHT action.  For example if editing a contact name, each click on this button will move the edit cursor right one character within the text field.
Simulates a joystick LEFT action.  For example if editing a contact name, each click on this button will move the edit cursor left one character within the text field.
Simulates an ENTER action of the joystick (e.g. a press of the joystick). For example if viewing the list of Contacts, clicking on this button will select the Contact for viewing.
Simulates the pressing of the HOME button. This action will return to the mobile device's home screen and the Navigation Buttons panel will be closed.
Simulates the pressing of the BACK button.  Each press of this button will return to the previous screen from which the user navigated.
Simulates the pickup button.
Simulates the hang-up button.

Keyboard - Smartphone

Keyboard Key Device  Action
INSERT Simulates pressing the mobile device's "Soft key 1" button.   e.g. The button used to initiate the START menu.
PGUP Simulates pressing the mobile device's "Soft key 2" button.
HOME Simulates pressing the HOME button. This action will return to the mobile device's home screen.
BACKSPACE Simulates the BACK button of the mobile device.  Pressing this button will return the user through the previous navigations until the home screen is presented.
UP Simulates an UP action.  For example if viewing the list of Contacts, each click on this button will move the highlight up one position within the list.
DOWN Simulates a joystick DOWN action.  For example if viewing the list of Contacts, each click on this button will move the highlight down one position within the list.
LEFT Simulates a joystick LEFT action.  For example if editing a contact name, each click on this button will move the edit cursor left one character within the text field.
RIGHT Simulates a joystick RIGHT action.  For example if editing a contact name, each click on this button will move the edit cursor right one character within the text field.
ENTER Simulates an ENTER action of the joystick (e.g. a press of the joystick). For example if viewing the list of Contacts, pressing ENTER will select the Contact for viewing.

Keyboard - Pocket PC (All Touch-Screen devices)

Keyboard Key Device  Action

F7 Simulates pressing the mobile device's Button 3.  For more details on Button Mapping please refer to the Button Mapping chapter.

CTRL+ENTER Simulates an ENTER action. For example if viewing the list of Contacts, pressing ENTER will select the Contact for viewing.
CTRL+PGUP Simulates the pickup button.
CTRL+PGDOWN Simulates the hang-up button.
 

If using True Connect Pro the default keys detailed above can be altered in the Configuration - Keys Tab dialog.

All other keyboard keys will enter text onto the mobile device if the device is executing an application that will receive text.
