Penalty Services is a sister company to Raspberry Software and delivers a Department for Transport (DfT) authorised independent appeals process.

Train operators are not able to become judge and jury when it comes to a passenger appealing their penalty fare notice. Penalty Services delivers the 1st line of an independent appeal process to decide if a PFN has been issued appropriately and within the UK legislation.

Penalty Services delivers a rapid turnaround and has never missed the DfT’s guidance of a 21 day outcome to a passenger’s appeal.

As the appeal is submitted, the Penalty Fare Notice is automatically put on hold while the appeal is processed, avoiding further lifecycle correspondence to be sent chasing the debt. The results of appeals are then automatically entered into the Raspberry back-office case management system, allowing train operating companies (TOC’s) to begin prosecution processes where necessary.
