Introducing our new Whitepaper – The move to DFTO: what it means for revenue protection
We’re excited to share the launch of our latest white paper, which explores the key challenges facing revenue protection in the UK rail industry as it transitions towards public ownership.
Titled ‘The move to DFTO: what it means for revenue protection’, the document looks at how stronger collaboration, better data capture and more consistent best practice will be critical as the industry evolves.
Drawing on our two decades of experience in revenue protection software development, we have also set out our recommendations for train operating companies (TOCs) as they move towards public ownership. Aligned with the 2025 Office of Rail and Road (ORR) review recommendations, the white paper presents a clear vision for a more consistent approach to revenue protection across the UK rail network.
As our Director, Peter Jarvis, explains:
“The move to DFTO represents a pivotal moment for the rail industry. It’s not just about structural change; it’s about creating new systems around ticketing and revenue protection that passengers understand and trust.
“The shift to a DFTO structure is a real opportunity to rebuild public trust in revenue protection, but it also brings a complex set of operational and strategic challenges for revenue protection and customer experience teams across the network.
“By improving the way data is shared across operators, we have a real opportunity to deliver a fairer experience for everyone while also supporting operations behind the scenes.”
We’re already working closely with DFTO and TOCs nationwide, as well as key stakeholders involved in the development of Great British Railways (GBR). Through this, we’re able to contribute practical, front-line insight into the creation of a more unified revenue protection system.
